Arsenal's manager has expressed confidence that his squad can persist in handling with player absences following revealing that star striker Kai Havertz is not ready for several more weeks.

Extended Absence for German Star

The Germany international has been out since the summer after undergoing an operation on his knee. Originally slated to be available earlier in December, the manager stated the player faced a hurdle when increasing his rehabilitation and could not progress “the required stage.”

“We learned, and we were able to put together a squad that is considerably steadier and has greater depth,” Arteta said.

Tactical Decisions for Brentford Clash

This development leaves a dilemma for the midweek home game against Brentford. The manager needs to decide between sticking with Mikel Merino, who found the net playing out of position against Chelsea, or bringing back Viktor Gyökeres, who came back after a fitness issue off the bench. Long-term absentee Gabriel Jesus remains an option following a lengthy absence.

Defensive Concerns Remain

More doubts surround defender William Saliba and winger Leandro Trossard, who both missed the Stamford Bridge game. Therefore, new recruits Cristhian Mosquera and Piero Hincapié will probably keep their places in the backline for the Premier League front-runners.

Arteta expressed his personal desire to see him return. “Everyone is eager to have him. Truly, it’s a player that, personally, I love so much for his contributions to the team, but his mentality, his nature. I see him suffer while sidelined.”
