The ex-lawyer for the former president has left her position as New Jersey's top federal prosecutor. This decision was prompted by a judicial decision that questioned her eligibility to occupy the role.

Official Departure

The nation's top law enforcement official, Pam Bondi, announced Habba's resignation on Monday. She commented that the appeals court finding made it unworkable for her to perform her duties.

"But do not mistake compliance for surrender," Habba stated. "The effort will now extend throughout America."

The departure comes a week after a judicial panel found that she had been unlawfully serving as the federal prosecutor. This judgment is likely to affect scores of prosecutions in the Garden State.

The court declared that a acting appointment that bypassed Senate approval ran afoul of the statute on vacant positions.

Earlier, assuming the federal prosecutor position, Trump had announced he was selecting her as his presidential counsellor in a potential future term, calling her as deeply loyal and a "tireless advocate for justice".
